Fleet Town Yellow v Haslemere

Burn off the xmas pud

A good start to the new year.
Having played Haslemere already this season and won 3-0, i was quietly confident going into this game even though it was our first game back after the xmas break.
Unfortunately we were again without our first choice keeper due to injury, but luckily Gaby offered to play in goal in the first half. We would think about who to play in goal for the second half ,at half time.
A bright start from us culminated in an early goal. I'd like to say a sweet strike from Chloe from the edge of the area rocketed into the bottom corner of the net, but alas, although Chloe did make good contact it should have been kept out by the goalie. Still 2 goals in two games is a good return from Chloe.
We started to pile on the pressure with some great work down the right wing from Maddie putting numerous crosses into the box.
Jess and Lauren were controlling the midfield with Claudia and Katie constantly hounding the Haslemere defence.
Although Tess wasn't seeing as much as the ball as I'd have liked she was still a constant nuisance to the Haslemere defence.
A lapse in concentration at the back did present Haslemere with a consolation goal, scored by their skilful number 11.
Leading 5-1 at half time, it was time to think about the gk'ing situation. Chloe volunteered to play the first part of the second half.
The second half was a bit closer and after scoring a 6th we again conceded, but by this time the game was over.
Our defence soon got to grips with Hasemere's number 11 and we didn't look in trouble again. Mid way through the half we swapped Chloe for Claudia and the look on Dom's face was off utter shock. - Classic!
Claudia, drowned by the goalie top, did touch the ball a few times which was good experience for her.
We scored again late on and sealed a 7-2 victory. Special mention to Katie as she scored 4 goals! She even told me at the end she should have got more :)

We just need a little more composure on the ball and trust in each other abilities, as we will face sterner opposition in the coming weeks.

MOTM - Chloe
Player of the week - Maddie
