It wasn't to be

A great game of football today. We knew today would be a challenge as Epsom had only conceded one goal so far this season.
There wasn't a lot in it during the first half apart from Epsom taking their chances and Fleet unfortunately not able to. Epsom established a 2-0 lead, We should have reduced the deficit when awarded a penalty but Katie was denied by a good save.
The half time chat was quite easy as we played well and were more than a match for the league leaders. Don't dive into the defensive challenges, and get the ball to the attacking players as quick as you can. Unfortunately we had to change our keeper who was injured. I thought the change was going to upset our rhythm but we started the second half very brightly and were swarming over Epsom. We faced a gk on good form and she denied us on a number of occasions. Totally against the run of play Epsom scored a 3rd. The reaction from Fleet was impressive. Rather than heads dropping they knew they where still in the game. We got a goal back with a superb strike from Lauren, the gk finally beaten.
Again we pressed for more goals but the combination of the gk, post and crossbar hampered us.
The result, not a true reflection of play and Epsom will know they were seriously challenged today. I was extremely pleased with the girls, on another day we win that game.

Man of the match - Laruen
Player of the week - Lauren
