I hope you had a wonderful summer in the blazing heat, and have enjoyed the early weeks of the season.
It is certainly unusual to be writing a message such as this when some teams are three weeks into their seasons. It certainly adds to the feeling that football hardly went away over the summer! It is good to have it back though, and it was a lovely sight to see so many of the clubs teams training on Friday evenings down at Calthorpe Park School.
It was a summer of change around the club, with the change to the new online system, both for player registrations and for payments. Whilst like any new system it has teething issues, I want to thank you all for your perseverance. The Vice-Chairman has invested a lot of time in it, but without you willing to push on and complete the registrations it would never have happened. And whilst it delayed the sending of this message, I'm delighted with the implementation of this system. It is part of the modernization of the club, bringing us forwards and streamlining as much of the management of the club as possible. The club is now on a more sound business footing, with a hopeful corresponding decrease in the workload of the tireless volunteers who keep us rolling ever onwards.
Last season was one of consolidation, with the resignation of the long-serving Chairman, Gary Niblett. Gary led the club for eight years and is a hard act to follow, but we survived. As we move forward, we look to continue to build on his work, taking the club on to new heights.
All the best.
